Kelp Hoops
Kelp is one of the fastest-growing organisms on earth — harvested, naturally cured, dried, and preserved into a durable, lightweight material that retains the organic ruffles and amber tones of the ocean without dye, treatment, or synthetic finish.
The ocean made them. No two are the same.
Handcrafted by a Cape Town-based initiative, these earrings caught international attention at the November 2024 Earthshot Prize events in South Africa — where Prince William chose a pair as an impromptu gift, recognising the work of a grassroots ocean materials practice doing something genuinely new. Each pair is suspended from minimalist metal hooks and wears lightly, somewhere between jewellery and found object.
