Algae Paper Book
Algae-based paper is produced without the chlorine bleaching processes that release toxic compounds into waterways, making it a non-toxic alternative from production through to handling.
The book that started with the tide.
The Algae Paper is the result of over twelve years of research by artist and designer Julien Villaret, conducted between Germany and France, coast and studio. Beginning with green tide observations along the coast of Brittany, it documents experiments across multiple seaweed species, giving form to a new material imaginary. 200 pages, printed in quadrichromy on coated paper. Texts in English, French, and German. First edition of 500 copies, July 2025. A document, a reference, and a quiet argument for what algae can become.
